The documented story
Official material documents football and athletic performance plus modern concert, jazz, percussion, and steel-band opportunities. A 2022 update records restoration of the marching band’s front ensemble and twenty-two percussionists.
People and leadership
Andrew Anderson was identified as director of bands in TU’s 2022 band update. A complete succession and the Henry Kendall College-era leadership remain unresolved.
Community and organization
These are institutional University of Tulsa ensembles. The institution traces its own line from the Presbyterian School for Indian Girls to Henry Kendall College, which moved to Tulsa in 1907, and to the University of Tulsa charter approved in 1920.
Reading the evidence
The institutional lineage does not by itself prove a continuous band from the Muskogee or Henry Kendall years. No founding year for TU’s band program is asserted.
Questions for further research
Yearbooks and McFarlin Library records are still needed for the first Tulsa-campus band, early directors, and interruptions. The public page can accurately present the verified modern history while disclosing that origin gap.
