Oklahoma State Band of Mountain View

A December 1905 local newspaper toast documents the Oklahoma State Band and names instructors and musicians. A c. 1907 archival photograph identifies the Oklahoma State Band of Mountain View.; Multiple reports document concerts, instruments, uniforms, financing, and leader compensation.

County navigation follows places named in the source records. A city crossing county boundaries can link to more than one county; this does not establish an exact historical location, birthplace or current residence.

The documented story

The combined newspaper and photograph evidence securely establishes activity from late 1905 through about 1907, including concerts and organized financing.

People and leadership

The contemporary report names instructors and musicians, but the present packet does not yet normalize those names into a verified director chronology.

Community and organization

The evidence describes a locally financed civic organization with uniforms and instruments. The reason for the “State Band” styling is not explained.

Reading the evidence

The “state” title is treated as the band’s historical style, not evidence that it was an official State of Oklahoma agency or statewide representative ensemble.

Questions for further research

A full transcription of the 1905 personnel and finance report, plus later closing evidence, would deepen the page but does not block the qualified 1905–1907 account.
