Jazz history

Debbie Campbell

Oklahoma Magazine and the Growth Network biography identify Campbell as Deborah Ruth Vorhies, born in Fort Worth in 1950, a teen member of the Kandy Kanes, later lead vocalist with Buckwheat, and a major Tulsa Sound performer after settling in Tulsa in the 1970s. The independent sources give February 28, 2004, as her death date, conflicting with the Hall-affiliated profile's 2001 date.

Oklahoma connection

Independent Oklahoma coverage describes her relocation to Tulsa, Tulsa club work, recording, touring, and long-term local importance.

Evidence and remaining questions

Death date must not be normalized until a contemporaneous obituary or death record resolves 2001 versus 2004.
