Visible Gateway metadata description: Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "All spiffied up in a new coat of paint and bristling with springflowers, Springlake Park has a new image this year. "We're going in for cleanliness, courtesy, and beauty this season," explained Ernst A. Meyer, sales and promotion manager. As for cleanliness, he said, the park will have uniformed attendants on duty at all times picking up litter and placing it in convenient receptacles. And 14 brick plants blazing with colorful spring flowers and trees have been spotted around the premises as a part of the beauty treatment. The planters will be lighted at night. At least four new amusement devices and rides will be in operation soon, Meyer promised. One is the $49,000 Trabant, which resembles a giant top as it spins and whooshes from level flight to a 45-degree angle. There will also be a Rock-A-Plane ride and Turbo ride, as well as a 12-lane "Magic Carpet" high slide. Of course all the old stand-bys, such as the Big Dipper, Galaxie, Auto Skooter, merry-go-round, Ferris whell, Calypso and Alpine Skyway will still be around. The midway has been enlarged in order to accommodate the added amuseument features. The arcade, which is jam-packed with all sorts of coin-operated amusement devices, has added 28 new Ski-Ball alleys for a total of 42. Each device dispenses coupons that can be exchanged for merchandise prizes......The park adopted a new admission policy, said Meyer, who joined Marvin Staton's staff in February after serving 15 years with the Coney Island Amuesement Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.....John Lay, catering manager, said he can accommodate picnics with up to 5,000 persons with the $5,000 persons with the $50,000 worth of cooking equipment..........The park subscribes to Pinkerton Secruity Service........Performing last Friday and Saturday were the Medford, Balko and Western Heights high school bands."
